District level vocal competition adjudicated by the Metropolitan Opera. Competitors in this district will have been selected through a national screening process. Winners will advance to the regional finals which will represent several districts. Ultimately, competitors hope to reach the finals where approximately 10-12 candidates will compete. This is one of the most prestigious competitions in the world and winners frequently enjoy international careers with the Metropolitan Opera as well as other major houses throughout the world.
